Ordinances of the Colony by Section 2 of Ordinance 7 of 1864 to prepare and publish an edition of all ordinances, clauses or parts thereof, omitting part of the Ordinances which had been repealed.
The volume of Ordinances which they prepared and published in 1865 was therefore a collection of the Ordinances which had been passed, or such as they had been passed, but contained only those Ordinances in force in 1865, and so altered or amended as they had been.
The Original Ordinances of the Colony duly authenticated under the hand and seal of the Colony have been sent to the Registrar of the Supreme Court.
When the present Commission were appointed for the revision of the Laws, they wished to make a collection of the Laws such as they were when they had been passed.
This was attended with some difficulty. It has not been possible to obtain the Original Ordinances duly authenticated, but the Commission have succeeded in making a collection, partly in original, partly in print, and some in manuscript, of all the Ordinances such as they originally existed.
Section 3 of this Ordinance declares this Collection to be the true and authentic record of the Ordinances therein comprised.
Section 4 directs the Clerk of Councils to transmit to the Registrar of the Supreme Court all Ordinances immediately on their receiving the assent of the Governor, and also all Proclamations made by the Governor.
